Mic Check (this web page)
The microphone test runs entirely in your browser. The audio captured by getUserMedia is
analysed and, if you press record, held in memory for playback. It is never uploaded, never written to a
server, and is discarded as soon as you stop the test or close the tab. The server behind this page stores
only the standard web-server request log (IP address, time, requested path) for operational purposes.
Your language choice is stored in your browser's local storage so the page opens in the same language next time. Clearing site data removes it. There is no account, no cookie-based tracking and no analytics script on this page.
HotMute (the Windows app)
HotMute does not record, listen to or transmit audio. It calls the Windows Core Audio API to set the mute flag on your capture device, and it reads the device name so it can show it in the settings window.
Settings are stored as a plain JSON file in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\LutraApps\HotMute on your own computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.
The one-time Pro purchase is handled entirely by the Microsoft Store. We never see your payment details; the app only asks the Store whether this account owns the add-on and caches that yes/no answer locally so it works offline.
Children
Neither Mic Check nor HotMute is directed at children under 13, and neither knowingly collects personal information from them.
